The Global sportswear giant Adidas aims at eliminating the use of the virgin plastics in its products by the year 2024. The PET bottles are the main contributors to plastic waste globally and also in India.
But, As per the United Nations Report, approx 300 million tonnes of plastic are produced every year. And 8 millions of plastic waste end ups in the oceans. However, the PET material collection rate in India is approx 80%, among the best in the world, but a good portion of these bottles are downcycled, eliminating the possibility of further recycling.
